Preliminary Estimate Services

How many of your sketch plans – between 30% and 90% – have you completed? Or do you get annoyed when you create cost estimates from preliminary plans? Need a quick initial quote to see if the project fits your client’s budget? Or are your suppliers postponing bids? To assess the feasibility of your project and move forward successfully with your clients, we can help you by offering quick and thorough preliminary estimates with square meter prices.

With 15 years of experience in the AEC sector and a portfolio of private, public, and residential projects, US Estimating can guarantee the most reliable and logically sound preliminary estimates based on assumptions from previous projects. Using expert estimating software and our own created databases, RS Means and Craftsmen, we price per square foot or square meter for completed projects and builds. The BOM has performed as accurately as possible thanks to our location-based database and connections to regional suppliers.

What Is A Preliminary Estimating, And How Does It Help?

Before preparing formal design plans, a preliminary or conceptual estimate is used to anticipate the project’s cost and assess its economic viability. It helps construction professionals, property owners, home builders and developers decide how to allocate resources, create a preliminary budget and weigh various early design options.

Preliminary cost estimates are made early in a project, before actual planning and construction. They are primarily based on historical data from previous projects, adjusted for time, location, size and generated using engineering ideas.

Early cost estimates are used at different stages of the project life cycle. Depending on the customer’s information, these estimates may or may not be accurate.

Budget Estimate

When a project enters the planning phase, a budget estimate is created using data and plans from previous initiatives. Each line description includes a breakdown of the cost of materials, labor, and expenses associated with the project’s major components. Its accuracy is between -10% and +25% of the actual price.

Final Estimating

An entire inventory of all project components is included in a final estimate, sometimes called a digital estimate. It is created using careful project planning and has an accuracy range of -5% to +15%.

How Can You Use Our Preliminary Estimating?

Our estimates can help you determine upfront costs for:

  • Manage budget and obtain credit
  • Limit project costs for architects and designers
  • Develop an estimate of the likely quantity and cost of materials and labor
  • Planning the next phase
  • Set a budget and negotiate with subcontractors and contractors

What Do You Get In Our Preliminary Estimating?

The estimate consists of the breakdown of the quantities, taking into account the following subdivisions:

  • Preparations
  • Substructures (foundations, footings etc)
  • Structures (masonry, walls, cladding, roofs, stairs, floors, doors, windows)
  • Exterior/Interior Finishing (Flooring, Drywall, Paint etc)
  • Fittings
  • Mechanical (HVAC systems, duct systems etc)
  • Plumbing (pipes, drains, fittings etc)
  • Electrical (cables, lines, lighting etc)
  • Work
  • Working hours
  • Emergency
  • Project schedule

How Do We Give A Preliminary Quote?

  • To examine the project’s scope and provide an estimate of the strategy, our estimators first review and assess the available data.
  • Data from previous studies of comparable scope are then collected.
  • The changes are spatial, temporal and dimensional. A contingency is also used.
  • All requirements, changes and assumptions are fully disclosed.

What Factors Contribute To The Correct Preliminary Estimates?

Because these estimates are made two or more years before construction, we adjust project costs to reflect the start of construction. Consequently, we must take future costs into account. It is updated with a time index that accounts for relative time-related inflation or deflation caused by labor costs, material costs, interest rates etc. The nature and scope of the project also affect the project cost. We compare the planned building area with the size factor with the standard building area.

We take and change the project’s time, location, type and size while creating a BOM using data from previous projects.

How it works?

1. Project:

You can send/forward us the plans, specifications, and bid invitation in PDF format or via Dropbox link, Google Drive or any other website that allows us to review them.

When you forward us the plans via email, please do mention to us whether you would be bidding the whole project or selected trades so that we can review the drawing accordingly.

2. Reviewing & Proposal:

We’ll go through the plans with you in detail and provide you with a fee proposal for your approval. Only after your approval, we will start the work and there are no charges to review the plans.

Format & Software

  • Our work would be in an Editable Excel Sheet – if required, we can use your template or can put your company details on the Estimate/Proposal.
  • For to do quantities takeoff – we use software PlanSwift, BlueBeam, On Screen Takeoff (OST). Mostly we use PlanSwift.
  • We will be very happy to provide Software files as well as Markups/color drawings (if required).

Our Fees & Turnaround Time

  • We are dedicated to providing the highest quality services within our customer’s budgets.
  • We are very flexible in our fees; we are always after a long-term relationship not after one job Fee. For us, repeated work is more important than high charges of one job.
  • We charge Per Project/Plan.

Our Fees Depend on size and scope of the work But

  • Our average fees are like $250, $350, $450, $550 and we even do jobs in $100.
  • You can pay us Per Project, or you can pay us Weekly, Monthly or Quarterly.
  • We can complete the jobs within 2 to 3 working days.

I assure you that with us, you will never have any issues of quality or turnaround.
